the connect with god test

Eight ways to connect

Twenty-four quick questions (some of them a little playful on purpose) find your primary and secondary styles. Each week’s step then includes a way to connect with God that fits you, with a real place near your city when it helps: a park, a church, a library, a place to serve.

Prayer

Prayer is one of the most fundamental ways to connect with God. It involves communicating with God, sharing your thoughts, feelings, desires, and seeking guidance. Prayer can be formal or informal, spoken or silent, personal or communal.

Reading Scripture

Engaging with religious texts like the Bible is another primary way to connect with God. Reading scripture helps to understand God's character, His teachings, and His will. It can provide comfort, guidance, and inspiration.

Worship

Participating in worship, whether in a communal setting such as a church or individually, can foster a connection with God. Worship often includes singing, prayer, preaching, and the sacraments, all aimed at honoring and connecting with God.

Meditation and Contemplation

Taking time to meditate on God's words or to contemplate one's relationship with God can deepen understanding and intimacy. This quiet time allows for reflection on God's presence in one's life.

Fasting

Fasting is a practice of intentionally refraining from certain comforts, like food, to focus more on spiritual needs and connect more closely with God. It's often used as a way to purify oneself and gain spiritual discipline.

Acts of Service

Serving others is often seen as serving God Himself. Many believe that by helping those in need, they are also connecting with God and living out His commands.

Fellowship with Other Believers

Being part of a community of faith can enhance one's relationship with God. Sharing faith experiences, supporting each other in spiritual growth, and praying together are all ways that fellowship can help connect individuals to God.

Nature and Creation

Many find that spending time in nature, a creation they see as an expression of God's own work, helps them feel closer to God. This can be a time of reflection, awe, and worship.
